John heads the Eastern Europe and Central Asia Network (EECAN) team in DIT. His team supports trade and investment in Eastern Europe, Russia, Turkey, the Southern Caucasus countries, Central Asia and Mongolia, working with DIT staff and businesses across the region. John began his career in the Civil Service and has also worked as a lobbyist, supporting a range of UK and foreign companies, especially in the advanced manufacturing sector. He has a PhD on the Russian economy from the Centre for Russian, European and Eurasian Studies at the University of Birmingham.
